Hatfield Regional Qualifier 2026

  • October 5, 2026

The past weekend held the first meet of the season that the Pink Army hosts. Over the course of the year, in addition to our club champs, we hold an Autumn regional qualifier, a county qualifier, a spring regional qualifier and a national qualifier. These meets give our swimmers the opportunity to develop their race skills, set new PB’s and achieve qualifying times for the various championships throughout the year.

There was one session on Saturday which included the 50m free, 400m IM, 100m backstroke, 200m butterfly, 200m free and 100m breaststroke. The heats determine the individual age group medallists with qualifiers for finals grouped into 14yrs and under as well as 15 yrs and over. All 200m and above races are timed finals whereas 100m and 50m races have finals.

Hatfield’s medal winners in Saturdays finals were Jorgie with a bronze in the 14yrs and under 50m free and Katie (gold) and Ben (bronze) in the 15yrs and over event. Camille took gold in the 100m back. In the 100m breast, Selena and Castiel came away with silvers in their respective 14yrs and under finals.

Sunday morning started bright and early with the 400m free heats. Next were the 100m IM, 50m back, 100m fly and 200m breast. The finals followed and Hatfield had more medal winners. Aria won gold with Jorgie taking bronze in the girls 14yrs and under 100m IM. Ashley claimed gold in the older age final as did Ben. Camille won another gold, this time in the 50m back and Tara took bronze. Ben came away with another medal, this time a silver. The 100m fly rounded off the session with Amy winning a silver in the 15+.

After lunch, the afternoon session kicked off with the 200m IM then the 50m breast, 100m free, 200 back and concluded with the 50m fly. Jorgie picked up another medal in the 50m breast, this time a bronze. Katie and Ben both claimed victories in the 100m free finals with Leo winning a silver in the 14 and under event. In the last round of finals, Amy and Oliver both took gold in the 15+ 50m fly with Leo taking a bronze in the younger final.

Well done to all the swimmers on some good performances and a happy, positive meet. Keep up the hard work and those results will follow! We again received lots of positive feedback about our meet, especially the home baked items and catering we provide. Let’s keep this up!

Thank you to all the volunteers in a multitude of roles. These meets simply cannot run without the help of our parent members. Our club is a volunteer run, community club and it takes the work of everyone to keep in going. If we don’t have enough volunteers, we won’t be able to host meets and our swimmers won’t get the opportunities to race. Meets are also a big part of our yearly fundraising and without this income, we wouldn’t be able to thrive. So, please, if you already volunteer, thank you and keep going! If you don’t already help, please begin to. Your swimmers need you!

Now we move on to Arena league and club champs next weekend, then a few weeks later it will be our County Qualifier. Plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved! Let’s go Pink Army!
