London Legacy Meet
Last week, Hatfield swimmers travelled to the London Aquatic Centre for the London Legacy Meet. This three day meet was a great opportunity for some of our younger swimmers to race in the iconic pool built for the 2012 Olympics. For the older competitors, it was a chance to lay down a marker and try to break into the rankings for the summer meets.
All events of distances 400m or shorter ran heats in the morning with A and B finals for Junior (15/under) and Seniors (16/over) in the afternoon. This gave our swimmers good chances of a second swim, allowing them to practice not only racing skills but also recovery strategies. The days were long but the Pink Army had lots of good swims, multiple finalists and a number of medal winners.
Age group medals were given to first through third place finishers in the heats. For the finals sessions, the top three in the A finals were awarded plaques. Many of our swimmers also stepped up and improved their times from heats to finals.
