Our Season of Hosting Meets Comes to an End
The Pink Army hosted our final meet of the season over the weekend of June 20-21. Held at Hertfordshire Sports Village, our Level 2 early National Qualifier is the highest level of meet we run all year. It is extremely popular with clubs near and far for a chance to swim in a fast pool and get some early qualifying times for short course Winter Nationals scheduled for December. A big draw are the finals that are run at the end of each of the three sessions giving those that make it another chance to clock a national time.
As usual, we had lots of compliments about the meet from how well it’s run, the friendliness of the club and helpfulness of our volunteers and of course the quality of the catering with all the home made goodies! The photography was also very popular and the ice cream van on a warm Sunday evening was a welcome treat!
Aqua Swim Supplies were on hand again offering a wide range of swimming equipment and suits at competitive prices. We also welcomed Olly timing systems to our meet. This innovative technology uses cameras and AI to time the swimmers and Hatfield are the first club in the country to test out this technology.
Over the weekend, our swimmers competed well. There were numerous PB’s and many of the Pink Army qualified for finals and stepped up during those sessions. It’s always great to see those pink caps in the mix for medals!
As our season of meets comes to a close, we’d like to again thank everyone who makes running the meets possible. Our fantastic team of volunteers who organise everything behind the scenes, helpers who give their time during the sessions, officials whom without their help the meets wouldn’t run, coaches who encourage and guide our swimmers daily, parents who taxi their children around and support in the stands and everyone else who plays a part in our club – it couldn’t happen with out you! And of course our wonderful swimmers who it’s really all about – keep working hard and enjoy the journey.
