Peanuts League 2026 – Round 1

May has arrived and with it begins this year’s Hertfordshire Peanuts League. Peanuts League is a junior swimming competition for children aged 9–12, in Hertfordshire swimming clubs, featuring three rounds of galas in May, June, and July. The idea of the league is to focus on team, individual, and relay events, providing early competitive experience for younger swimmers. Peanuts is fun, exciting and looked forward to every year by all those club swimmers eligible to compete and also their supporters. So get your pink wigs, T-shirts, tutus, glasses and all other accessories ready and let’s go swim fast and have fun!

Round one this year saw the Pink Army compete at Westminster Lodge on Saturday night. This did clash with the last weekend of Regionals which will have affected many of the clubs taking part. Teams we were racing on the night were Verulam, Bishop Stortford, Cheshunt, Berkhamsted and Harpenden.

Our young team were full of spirit and raced hard all night. There were some fantastic individual efforts as well as close and exciting relays. As usual, the noise and cheering during the squadron relay was deafening! Our swimmers and parents looked great in all their pink kit and everyone had a great night.

When it was all over and the points were counted, Hatfield had placed 2nd on the night behind winners Bishop Stortford. Next month we’ll be back and ready to go for round 2 which will again be at Westminster Lodge. Hatfield will be hosting this round so we’ll be relying on our army of volunteers to help and ensure everything runs smoothly on the night. Let’s go Hatfield!
