Putteridge Long Course Level 1 Meet

The beginning of March brings with it the long course season. Hatfield’s first competition this year was Putteridge Swimming Club’s Level 1 Meet held at Inspire Luton Sports Village. Level 1 meets are long course (50m pool) only and their purpose is to enable swimmers to achieve qualifying times for National level meets. They also have a minimum qualifying time required for entry. This years qualification window for the 2025 Aquatics GB Summer Championships and Swim England National Summer Meet opened this week. It runs from 7 March to 11 May. Swimmers from the ages of 13 to 19 and over will be racing to gain top ranked times that will see them invited to these meets. This weekend is also in the window to qualify for April’s GB Championships which will be held at the iconic London Aquatics Centre.

The Pink Army had a good sized team representing them at Putteridge. For some of our younger swimmers it was their first time racing long course but they handled it well. For the older swimmers, it was the first chance to get a time in the window and a starting point for the season. There were a lot of good swims and many PB’s. Congratulations go to Ever Ives who achieved her first GB Champs time in the 400m freestyle. Next weekend the team are back at home competing in our home meet before Regionals begin at the end of the March. Lets go Pink Army!
