Swim England Open Water and National Summer Meet

As the season comes to an end, Hatfield’s English National qualifiers have a few swims left before a well deserved summer break. Saturday, 25 August will see competitors race at Rother Valley for the Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championships. Following this, the Swim England National Summer Meet will take place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield from Monday 27 August to Saturday, 1 September.

Harry George competed in the East Region 5k open water race where he qualified for the National event. Here he will be stepping up the distance and competing in the 7.5k race which also includes navigating a feeding station.

Harry’s older brother, Maxwell, back from Australia, is also competing in the summer meet. He will be racing the 50m backstroke on Monday.

Hatfield’s first swimmer to take to the water in Ponds Forge will be Perrin. He will be swimming the first event on Monday, the 400m free. On Thursday he will compete in the 200m free before rounding off his week with the 800m free on Friday.

On Wednesday morning, the competition begins with the women’s 100m breaststroke. Here we will see Nieve in action looking to post a time to qualify her for the final later in the day.

Shortly afterwards, Ashley returns to the water in the 50m butterfly just a week after competing in the 50m & 100m breaststroke events at British Summer Champs.

Swimming the longest race in the pool, Oliver will be competing in his first English Summer meet. The 1500m free will take place in the afternoon on Wednesday. Oliver was also part of the Pink Army’s 4x200m free relay last week at British which will hopefully have helped prepare him for the experience.

On Friday we have two more qualifiers for the 800m free. Daniel swam last week at British Summer champs in the 200m & 400m free and has qualified for the further distance here. K-ets will be making his debut at an English Summer meet after gaining some valuable experience last week swimming on Hatfield’s 4x200m freestyle relay.

Also back in Sheffield after last weeks British Summer champs is Caitlin. After already racing the 100m and 200m breaststroke events as well as the breaststroke leg in Hatfield’s 4×100 medley relay, this time around she will be taking on the shorter 50m sprint.

Our final swimmer of the meet is Camille. Camille was also in action last week swimming the backstroke leg of the 4×100 medley relay. Here she will be racing the 50m backstroke.
