Watford Development Meet

The Watford Development Meet was held this past weekend at Woodside Leisure Centre in Garston. The competition is aimed at swimmers who have not yet raced before, or who have not obtained county consideration times for the following year. Eligible swimmers from Hornet, Venom, Trident, Mosquito and Dragon were invited to enter and the meet was a really good opportunity to put all the skills worked on in training to good use in races. Events on offer were 50m, 100m & 200m of each stroke as well as 100m and 200m IM.

Swimmers with ‘no times’ were allowed to enter giving them a chance to get a time recorded officially and therefore be able to enter meets in the future. The Pink Army had a great time at the meet and there were lots of smiles on show. There was even a bit of dancing involved but luckily the coaches didn’t join in!

Lots of medals were won over the weekend as well as many ‘speeding tickets’! These were issued when a swimmer exceeded the ‘No Faster Than’ time and so received this instead of a medal. Overall, it was a really good competition with a lot learned by the swimmers as well as a lot of fun! Thank you to the coaches, TM’s, officials and parents for making it happen.
