  • Winter Nationals 2015

From 17th to 20th December 2015, our swimmers have been competing at British Winter Nationals, held in Sheffield (Ponds Forge). This was the first short course nationals the swimmers have competed in.

Nathan Hughes, Harry Constantine, Luke Turley, Luke Hazlehurst, Will Kearsey, Molly Francis, Levi Lucas, Laura Copping, Ben Garratt, Peter Webster, Lucas Dyson-Diaz, and Charlie Rayner have represented the club in the very best light.

Overall, we had 60 swims at the championships, including 12 finals (3 relays and 9 individual). Almost all the swims were swam in personal best times (over 90%) which brought us 7 gold medals, 3 silver, and 1 bronze, all in the junior age group. Nathan Hughes (15) has had a storming week, winning 200m freestyle (1:51,37), 400m freestyle (3:54,78), 1500m freestyle (15:26,04), 200m IM (2:04,02), 400m IM (4:21,50), and 200m breaststroke (2:17,59). Nathan’s 400m freestyle was also a new English Junior Record, which was 10 years old record. In 100m breaststroke, Nathan finished in the 2nd place, with time 1:05,20.

Harry Constantine (15) won 100m freestyle in 51,88. Harry also medalled in 50m freestyle (0:23,90) finishing in the 2nd place.

Luke’s Turley (15) swims got him 2nd places in 100m freestyle (0:51,97), and 200m freestyle (1:52,25), while Luke finished 3rd in 400m freestyle(4:01,22).

Other finalists from Hatfield were: Luke Hazlehurst, Will Kearsey, Levi Lucas, and Peter Webster.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers, for achieving their personal best times when it counts the most. Well done!!!
