Young Swimmers Compete at Watford

This past weekend a group of our young swimmers travelled to Watford to compete in the Claire Houchin Skills Development Meet. The competition was run as level 3 and was aimed at those swimmers who have not competed before or who have not yet achieved County consideration times for the following year. Events included 50m of all strokes, 100m and 200m of all strokes including IM.

For this meet, ages were as of the date of the last day of the meet rather than end of year. Medals were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age group unless the swimmer exceeded the ‘no faster than’ time which resulted in them receiving a ‘Speeding Ticket’ instead.

Hatfield swimmers performed very well and it was great to see so many photos on our socials of smiling, happy swimmers throughout the weekend. Reports from the TM’s and coaches were all positive with everyone enjoying the experience. Lots was learned and those all important skills practiced in training were put to the test in races. Hopefully every swimmer was spurred on by the experience and motivated to continue to keep improving and have fun with their teammates.

At the end of the weekend, it looks like the Pink Army came away with a total of:

27 Speeding tickets

16 gold medals

9 silver medals

8 bronze medals
